In an ideal setting, Killington President Mike Solimano drew a round of applause on Saturday night. Just hours after snow guns fired up for the season, natural snow was falling outside the Killington Grand Summit Hotel as the New England Ski Museum presented Killington founder Pres Smith with its Spirit of Skiing Award. In a speech honoring Smith's groundbreaking push to make his ski area first to open and last to close. Solimano announced Killington plans to open on Monday, November 3.

One day earlier, Sunday River announced it would be opening for one day of skiing on the 3rd. In the case of the Killington, it plans to start 7 day a week operations immediately. November 3rd operations will only be for season and express passholders, as day ticket sales will start on November 4.
