Killington

The sale of Killington has been completed and $30 million will be invested over the next 2 years, the resort announced today.

The group of 16 investors named Killington Independence Group is led by Phill Gross and Michael Ferri. Previous operator POWDR retains an ownership stake. Mike Solimano is now President and Chief Executive Officer.

Nearly 500 new snowguns will be installed for the 2024-25 season, with a similar number to be installed for 2025-26.

The 1987 Superstar Express Quad will be replaced next year with a Doppelmayr high speed six pack. Spring 2025 operations will be shifted to the North Ridge and Canyon complexes due to construction activities.

In addition, the 1994 Skyeship Gondola will be overhauled in 2025, including the installation of new cabins.

The new ownership group has vowed to plow profits from the next decade into future capital improvements.

The largest ski resort in New England by many metrics, Killington was operated by POWDR since the unfurling of the American Skiing Company in 2007. Improvements during POWDR's tenure included the installation of two detachable and two fixed-grip chairlifts, as well as the construction of two lodges. Many of the remaining core lifts at Killington and Pico date back to the 1980s.

According to the Storm Skiing Journal, POWDR is planning to sell three more of its ski areas in the near future as it realigns its portfolio.

Killington and Pico will remain on the Ikon Pass this winter.
