Sunday River will provide New England's first chairlift-served skiing of the season tomorrow.
Taking advantage of the recent elevational cold snap, Sunday River made snow in Locke and Jordan complexes. The resort will open from 10 AM to 2 PM on Halloween with ungroomed skiing on T2. Uploading and downloading will be required on the Locke Mountain Triple. Temperatures are forecast to hit 75 degrees in Newry tomorrow.
To date, early-season rival Killington has only conducted snowmaking tests. Tomorrow will mark the first time that Sunday River has beat Killington to opening day since the 2010-11 season.
Waterville Valley has made significant snow in the High Country complex, but will not be open to the public at this time.
Ski Ward in Massachusetts started the 2024-25 season on a small magic-carpet-served slope on October 19.
Tomorrow marks the first October skiing at Sunday River since 2018. Killington, Sunday River, and Wildcat all operated in October that year.
