Pleasant Mountain will become the fourth Maine ski area served by a high speed lift next season, as a detachable quad will be installed there this summer. The news was announced on Pleasant Mountain's Facebook account today.
The new lift is rumored to be a refurbished Jordan Bowl Express from Sunday River. The Doppelmayr lift was installed at Sunday River in 1994, serving the complex until 2022. Boyne has leveraged the Doppelmayr detachable refurbishment program in recent years at Loon and Sugarloaf.
The Summit Express Triple was installed at Shawnee Peak in 2010, operating day and night. The former Loon North Peak Triple was upgraded with a loading carpet at the time of the installation. The 1984 CTEC lift has been plagued by mechanical problems this season, leaving only the Sunnyside Triple to access the summit.
Located in Bridgton, Maine, Shawnee Peak was acquired by Boyne Resorts in 2021, with the original Pleasant Mountain name being restored one year later. The area features an advertised vertical drop of 1,300 feet and currently has three triple chairlifts and one fixed grip quad chairlift.
