Demolition of the original K1 base lodge has been underway this week. A portion of the facility can be traced back to a structure built by the state in 1958. The new building will extend into the footprint of the structure being removed.

When proposed in 2019, the new K1 lodge was pegged at $27 million. The 58,000 square foot facility is a 57% larger than the structure being removed and will allow for easier skier passage from the Superstar complex to the K1 gondola. Originally slated for a 2020-21 debut, the new lodge is now expected to open later this year.
