Loon announced today that its heavily marketed Kancamagus 8 chairlift installation has been postponed due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Loon closed for the season on March 15, while the state New Hampshire mandated the shut down of most businesses less than two weeks later.
In an update posted on its Loon Flightpath site, Loon stated that "Although significant investment has already been made, we cannot proceed with a project of this scale knowing the COVID-19 situation could further complicate its installation – potentially cutting off the Governor Adams Lodge and base area from the rest of the resort next winter. Permitting and planning related to the lift will continue as we prepare for the 2021 installation. The current global pandemic, however, continues to produce many unknowns. This postponement allows us to better support our team, our guests, and the greater Loon community at a time when it is needed most."
With the postponement, only two New England areas remain with potential 2020 lift projects: Saddleback (high speed quad) and Sugarbush (GMVS T-Bar).
