The long-anticipated RiverWalk Gondola will be constructed in 2025, Loon Mountain Resort announced in a press release today.
According to the press release, the 1,300 foot Doppelmayr pulse gondola will have four groups of three eight-person cabins. The lift will run from the RiverWalk Resort in Lincoln over the Pemigewasset River to the Timbertown/Escape Route area of Loon, providing guests the ability to access the ski area without needing a vehicle. RiverWalk Resort is wrapping up a major expansion (66 additional luxury units, a second restaurant, a winery, a spa, and a ballroom), while South Peak Resort is planning to construct a village at the base of South Peak.
According to a discussion with the New Hampshire Passenger Tramway Safety Board, Loon will not own the lift, as it will be located on the property of the two resorts. Loon will, however, operate the lift.
The gondola will be the second transportation gondola in New England, following the Over Easy lift installed at Stowe in 2006. A transportation gondola has also been proposed to connect Waterville Valley's Town Square to the nearby ski resort.
