With nearly half a foot of natural snow dropping on the high peaks this weekend, snowmaking operations are now underway at multiple ski areas in Northern New England.
Killington is making snow on Rime, Reason, and Superstar and has announced a Tuesday opening for season passholders, with day pass skiers welcome starting Wednesday. As it prepares for World Cup races in November, Killington's October opening will be its fifth in the past six years. The Vermont resort opened on October 18 last season.
Meanwhile, both Sunday River and Wildcat have announced they will be firing up snowguns tonight. Sunday River has had October skiing in seven of the past nine seasons, whilst Wildcat has never had October skiing during its Peak Resorts tenure. Neither area has announced a firm opening day.
