Per a February 1, 2015 press release, Ragged Mountain has promoted Ryan Schramm to General Manager, effective January 2015. Schramm, 36, has been employed at Ragged since August 2010 and has a background in culinary, coach, and IT. He was previously promoted from IT and Alpine Director to Director of Business Development in April 2014.

Previous General Manager Bob Ashton appears to have left Ragged in 2014 to start an industry consulting business.

The ski area recently installed a new high speed quad chairlift on Spear Mountain and has big real estate and terrain expansion plans on the table.

RAGGED MOUNTAIN NAMES NEW GENERAL MANAGER
DANBURY, NEW HAMPSHIRE - Ryan Schramm has been named General Manager of Ragged Mountain Resort. The announcement was made by Vernon Greco, President of Ragged Mountain's parent company, Pacific Group Resorts Inc. headquartered in Park City, Utah.

Schramm, 36 years old, is a lifelong skier and has been part of the Ragged Mountain staff since 2010. A native of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and the son of a ski shop owner, Schramm grew up skiing at nearby Ski Sawmill Resort. He is a Level 300 Certified USSA coach and PSIA Certified Ski Instructor and has over 12 years of experience at New England resorts.

Schramm's rise through the ski industry ranks has been unique. He has a culinary degree from PCT/Penn Sate and prior to joining Ragged Mountain in 2010 spent 11 years in the hospitality business in both private restaurants and corporate foodservice companies.

According to Greco, that unconventional route was part of the reason Schramm was selected as the new GM. "There is no question Ryan is a very strong skier and has been around the industry a long time as evidenced by his ski racing career, both as a competitor and coach. His experience in the hospitality industry is an added value." Greco noted that Schramm also spent time building and racing rally cars for several years, so he brings a mechanical background to the job as well.

Greco, himself a veteran president and general manager of three Western resorts explained, "Running a ski area today requires a blend of hospitality, management and traditional ski area operating skills. To be successful in today's mountain resort industry, a GM has to understand how to operate the mountain and also understand other business units like food and beverage, guest services, and the increasingly integrated and complex use of technology. Ryan has demonstrated his ability to manage diverse departments and tasks. In addition to his role as the Competition Director at Ragged Mountain, he has served as the head of IT, overseen Food and Beverage and served as the Director of Business Development."

Pacific Group has invested heavily in Ragged Mountain over the past few years including a new high speed quad, dramatically increased snow making capability, two new restaurants, and a new tubing park. Moving towards its goal of helping Ragged Mountain become a weekend destination resort, Pacific Group opened the New Hampshire Mountain Inn near the base of the resort this winter to provide overnight lodging, and construction is now underway on the first of the Cardigan Cabins, ski-in, ski-out properties next to the Barnyard lift.

"I am delighted to be involved with Ragged Mountain during this transformative time in its history, and I'm honored to be named the general manager," remarked Schramm. "We have a lot to look forward to, and as a staff we are excited by the possibilities."
