The White Mountains are dominating the New Hampshire lift construction landscape this summer, as Doppelmayr and MND install new lifts at three resorts.
The largest project this year is the new bubble six pack at Waterville Valley. Footings were poured starting last fall and are largely complete.
With the August 15 Bicknell's Thrush restriction period now passed, heavy work can now take place top-to-bottom. A helicopter arrived on site today and is currently staged adjacent to towers to be flown. As such, the Forest Service has closed the area to the public through Friday so that helicopter work can take place. The lift is the first brand new chairlift at Waterville since 1997.
To the north at Loon, footing work continues to take place for the replacement for the Seven Brothers triple. The new lift will be a refurbished Doppelmayr high speed quad, originally constructed at the West Basin complex in 1995.
Footings have been poured for the new Progression Quad at Attitash. The Doppelmayr fixed grip lift is replacing the 1973 Borvig double-double chairlifts that did not operate last season. Attitash recently announced that all key components for the new lift have been delivered.
