Attitash and Cannon will each be starting the weekend without a main chairlift after the areas experienced lift incidents earlier this week.
Flying Bear Express
A loaded chair fell off Attitash's Flying Bear Express Quad when a grip failed on Sunday, sending one person to the hospital. According to the resort's snow report, "Flying Bear will not be operating until further notice as we continue to work through reviews and inspections with the NH Tramway Safety Board and the lift manufacturer service team."
The 1995 Doppelmayr high speed quad is the only lift that reaches the top of the resort's Bear Peak complex.
Peabody Express
Sixty-four passengers were evacuated by rope from Cannon's Peabody Express Quad on Wednesday when a bolt reportedly failed. According to the area's snow report, repairs have been made, but "Adjustments and review are ongoing in coordination with the NH Passenger Tramway Safety Board."
The 1999 Garaventa-CTEC is the only high speed chairlift at the state-operated ski area. Skiers will need to ride the Aerial Tram to access mid-mountain and the Cannonball Quad.
Both chairlifts will continue to be closed on Saturday. A reopening date has not been announced.
