Two weeks after NewEnglandSkiHistory.com reported the project, Okemo has announced it is replacing its original high speed quad chairlift with a new high speed detachable 6 person heated seat orange colored bubble chairlift. The $6.9 million project is being conducted by Okemo's lift manufacturer of choice, Leitner Poma. Forms and rebar are already on the mountain, as construction is expected to be completed in December. A storage barn is also expected to be constructed, however state permits have not been issued for it.
As of June 16, 2014, all chairs are off the Northstar Express Quad and the haul rope is being removed. Okemo's management has announced the lift will be going to sister ski area Mt. Sunapee, to replace the Sun Bowl Quad. That project is expected to take place in 2014.
Meanwhile, the South Face Village lift project at Okemo has been postponed.
