Years of snowmaking struggles will hopefully be in the rearview mirror for Tenney Mountain, as the reemerging area works to modernize its infrastructure.
Pumphouse work continues both at the base and on-mountain with the Shooting Star building.
Large diameter lines have been run to feed the Eclipse complex. Meanwhile, crews are nearing the top of Shooting Star with the new Hornet complex line. New snowmaking hydrants and fixed gun mounts are being installed as well.
Many inter-trail glades have been cleared, allowing for significantly more tree skiing compared to earlier incarnations of the area.
The area is hosting its Octoberfest today, including scenic rides on the Eclipse Triple chairlift. Previously providing scenic rides to the top of the mountain, the Hornet Double is not operating at this time.
Located just west of Plymouth, Tenney Mountain first debuted with lift service in December 1960. A Stadeli double chairlift was installed in 1964, serving 1,285 vertical feet.
Steven Kelly's Northcountry Development Group acquired the shuttered resort in April 2022, opening in February 2023 for the first time since the COVID-19 shutdown.
A new base lodge and summit snowmaking pond were proposed at various times for 2024, but have been postponed.
