As the 2021-22 season reaches its midpoint, some ski areas are opening for the first time, while others remain idle.
Finally Opening
Quoggy Jo is tentatively slated to open tomorrow, depending upon how today's grooming session goes. The northern Maine area typically opens in December, but lost its early season snowpack in the Christmas deluge.
Lyndon Outing Club is also slated to open tomorrow. The northern Vermont area typically opens in January.
In New Hampshire, Mt. Eustis opened last weekend for the first time this season. Nearby Mt. Prospect is expecting to open tomorrow.
Natural Snow Woes
Other natural snow areas such as Baker Mountain and Mt. Jefferson in Maine have yet to operate, with no opening day announced. Big Squaw recently posted a photo of a snow gun, suggesting it could open soon. Veterans Memorial in New Hampshire is also awaiting opening day.
