Just one year after property owner Thomas Barker assumed operational control of Magic Mountain from JLS Magic, LLC, it appears new management could be taking over the southern Vermont ski area.
On July 3, 2014, Barker formed Magic Mountain Resorts, LLC, which operated the cash-strapped area during the 2014-15 season. Magic Mountain Resorts, LLC was quietly terminated as a Vermont business entity on March 16, 2015. Magic Mountain remained in operation through April 18.
On May 6, 2015, Ski Magic LLC was registered as a Vermont business entity. Geoffrey Hatheway is listed as the manager of the "Manager-Managed" styled business, while William Bourque is the Registered Agent for Ski Magic LLC.
Hatheway and Sullivan were listed as Directors and Bourque as Vice President in Magic Mountain Alpine Club's 2015 state filing.
Hatheway was Vice President of Marketing at Magic from June of 2011 through September of 2014 before departing for New York based Indelible Planet. According to his LinkedIn profile, the 1981 Dartmouth College graduate "[b]uilt record skier visit and revenue years in both 2013 and 2014 by uniquely positioning Magic as an enthusiast mountain with a retro, laid-back, community ski vibe" as head of marketing and sales.
While 2015-16 season passes went on sale today, no announcement has been made regarding potential management or ownership changes.
