Despite the unexpected passing of longtime owner Rod Taylor, Woodbury Ski Area will open for the 2014-15 ski season.

Owner Rod Taylor passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2014, two days before his 71st birthday. In 1972, Taylor took over the troubled Tapawingo ski area in western Connecticut and promptly rebranded it as Woodbury. Taylor operated the facility for over four decades, improving ski facilities as well as adding year round activities. All recreational activities at Woodbury were suspended following his death.

Though the ski area's web site has not been updated, a spokesperson for Woodbury confirmed via telephone that the ski area will operate for the 2014-15 ski season.
