Following a June, 2014 Merrimack Superior Court decision, the operators of Mt. Sunapee are moving forward with plans to expand into the long proposed West Bowl. According to a WMUR report, the state had one month to appeal the court decision, but did not act.
The New Hampshire Department of Resource and Economic Development and the Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the 5 Year Master Development Plan and Environmental Management Plan on Tuesday, August 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sunapee Lodge at Mount Sunapee Ski Area.
The proposed 5 year plan includes the relocation of the Sunapee Express Quad to the new West Bowl, 75 acres of new terrain, and a surface lift and lodge in the new base area. The existing Sunapee Express Quad would be replaced with a high speed six pack chairlift.
In addition to West Bowl plans, the 5 year plan includes the installation of a mountain coaster.
Previously approved projects include the ongoing upgrade of the Sun Bowl Quad to a high speed detachable quad, the upgrade of the North Peak Triple to a fixed grip quad, and the installation of a triple chairlift in the Sun Bowl.
