Stratton Gondola

Ski areas across New England have been dealing with significant lift issues this month.

Stratton's gondola is currently closed, as the top terminal sustained major damage from the wind earlier this week. According to a Facebook post by the ski area, a 100 mile per hour gust took the roofing off of the top terminal. Repair work is expected to start tomorrow. All terrain is still fully accessible by other lifts.

Gunstock's summit lift has been closed all week due to a gearbox failure. The area hopes to have the 2003 Doppelmayr-CTEC high speed quad back in service on Saturday.

Catamount recently announced that its Glades triple needs large crane work and will not reopen this season. The Poma fixed grip triple serves as a backup to the Ridge Quad.

Cannon Mountain's Peabody Express Quad was evacuated and closed for a multi-day period reportedly due to a failed bolt. The 1999 Garaventa-CTEC high speed quad is now back in operation.

Attitash's Flying Bear Express Quad remains closed with no announced reopening date following a grip failure that sent one rider to the hospital. Without the high speed quad, the summit of Bear Peak does not have lift service.

Wildcat's Snowcat Triple remains closed and is still reportedly undergoing repairs. The 1974 Riblet serves Wildcat's beginner terrain.

Sugarbush's Slide Brook Express has yet to open this season. The 1995 Doppelmayr high speed quad connects Sugarbush's Lincoln Peak complex to its Mt. Ellen complex. The area was reportedly completing electrical repair work with the hope of operating the lift before the end of the holiday period.

Brattleboro Ski Hill's T-Bar suffered a failed induction motor earlier this week. The 1964 Doppelmayr is not expected to operate again until next week, leaving the small ski area without lift service.

Burke's Hall J-Bar is in need of repair and is no longer listed on its snow report. The novice terrain can be accessed by the Sherburne Express and a Magic Carpet lift.
