Owner Rod Taylor passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2014, two days before his 71st birthday.
A native of West Hartford, Connecticut, Taylor was a member of the United States Ski Team in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
In 1972, Taylor took over the troubled Tapawingo ski area in western Connecticut and promptly rebranded it as Woodbury. Taylor operated the facility for over four decades, improving ski facilities as well as adding year round activities.
All recreational activities at Woodbury have since been temporarily suspended.
