Concerns about a fifth wave, variants, vaccine efficacy, therapeutics, booster shots, and vaccine mandates are swirling throughout New England as ski areas attempt to navigate the ever-changing COVID-19 landscape with the 2021-22 ski season now underway.
Many ski areas have been able to relax policies in place during the 2020-21 season and are hopeful to have a return to normal with respect to capacities and mandates.
With controversial OSHA rules being challenged in court, some ski areas are choosing to hold off on employee vaccine mandates for the time being, while others, such as Vail Resorts, have already instituted them. In addition, Epic customers will have to provide proof-of-vaccination in order to eat at its indoor walk-up food establishments; sit-down restaurants remain vaccine-optional. No other ski areas have announced customer proof-of-vaccination requirements.
