After months of uncertainty, a vision has emerged for potentially keeping Lost Valley open for ski operations. According to ownership, $50,000 per chairlift will be needed by October 17 in order to operate in 2014-15. The ski area will operate if at least one chairlift can be opened. If effort is unsuccessful, the funds raised are to be transferred to non profits such as Auburn Ski Association and Central Maine Adaptive Sports.
Located in Auburn, Maine, Lost Valley has been in operation since the 1961-62 season. The 240 vertical foot ski area features two chairlifts, snowmaking, and night skiing. The current ownership group took control of the area in 2004 and has incurred ten consecutive seasons of losses. Following the 2013-14 season, Lost Valley's ownership announced ski operations were in jeopardy.
