Ski Butternut will install its fifth quad chairlift this summer, the resort announced today.
A new 3,633 foot long SkyTrac fixed grip quad will be installed for the 2025-26 season, replacing the Overbrook Triple. The new lift will be slightly longer than its predecessor and will have different base and summit terminal locations. The lift will be named "Jane's Quad" in memory of late owner Jane Murdock.
The Thiokol chairlift was installed in 1975, serving the then-new Overbrook trail complex. The outgoing lift is 3,230 feet long by 721 feet vertical.
Ski Butternut's chairlift fleet otherwise consists of three Doppelmayr/CTEC fixed grip quad chairlifts, as well as a SkyTrac fixed grip quad installed in 2021.
Ski Butternut finalized a permit with the Town of Great Barrington for the replacement of the Overbrook Triple last year, as reported on NewEnglandSkiIndustry.com.
Located in Great Barrington, Ski Butternut was opened by the Murdock family in 1963. The ownership is also involved with nearby Otis Ridge.
