Middlebury College Snow Bowl

As reported on LiftBlog.com, Middlebury College Snow Bowl has announced plans to replace its Sheehan double chairlift this year.

According to an e-mail sent by Middlebury, the lift will be replaced with a SkyTrac fixed grip quad, which "will be in the same alignment as the current lift with just slightly more seats going up the mountain than what we have now." A Vermont Act 250 application has not yet been filed.

The Poma chairlift was installed in 1984 and serves 415 vertical feet of terrain for all abilities. It is one of two Poma "teardrop" chairs operating in Vermont, the other being Suicide Six.

The lift would serve Middlebury's new night skiing operation.

Located off Route 125 in Hancock, Middlebury College Snow Bowl is open to the public, featuring a 1,050 foot vertical drop served by three chairlifts.
