Following a week of hot days and some heavy rain, Killington has announced its Superstar slope will not open this weekend or June 1, as originally hoped. The final day of lift served skiing at Killington and in New England was Memorial Day.

In addition to being the last to close, Killington joined Sunday River in kicking off the ski season on November 3, 2014, with Sunday River narrowly winning first-to-operate honors by a few hours.

2015 marks the third straight May closing for Killington. The ski area has not operated in June since 2002. Its latest closing was in 1997, when it operated on June 22.
