The dramatic multi-million dollar redevelopment project at Camden Snow Bowl is still plagued by delays with no opening date announced. Installation of two chairlifts continues, with Sugarloaf recently loaning two lift mechanics for four days each to help with the effort. Triple chairs are currently being hung, while the double chairlift appears to be further behind schedule.
While a Magic Carpet lift was open briefly last week, neither chairlift is operational at this time. According to posts on the Camden Snow Bowl Facebook page, some season pass holders are upset with the delays. While no refunds or rebates have been announced, passholders have been offered discounts by other Maine ski areas.
The first year of the two year, $6.5 million redevelopment project includes new terrain, snowmaking infrastructure, night skiing, and the installation of two chairlifts. NewEnglandSkiIndustry.com reported in mid-November that the projected December 20, 2014 opening day was unlikely due to delays.
