Looking for a victory in the first-to-operate in New England challenge, Sunday River has announced it will open on Monday, November 3rd.

The weekend forecast for the area includes a front moving through Saturday, with the chance of snow and lower temperatures. Sunday River expects to make snow on Sunday with the hopes of opening its T2 trail on Monday. The area will then close for the balance of the work week.

The status of other first-to-open ski areas is not yet known, with no word from Killington about firing up its guns, or if Connecticut's Woodbury will attempt to make snow Sunday night without late owner Rod Taylor at the helm.
